Dick Cheney is a perplexing public figure in his cartoonish, mustache-tweaking persona. His notorious 2001 secret energy task force has forever discredited him in the environmental community. On February 23 2007, Cheney spoke with ABC news:

JONATHAN KARL: Where is the science on this? Is global warming a fact? And is it human activity that is causing global warming?

THE VICE PRESIDENT: Those are the two key questions. I think there’s an emerging consensus that we do have global warming. You can look at the data on that, and I think clearly we’re in a period of warming. Where there does not appear to be a consensus, where it begins to break down, is the extent to which that’s part of a normal cycle versus the extent to which it’s caused by man, greenhouse gases, et cetera.

Frank Luntz conservative pollster responsible for shaping the Bush administration's strategy to avoid addressing Global Warming by confusing the public about the scientific evidence.

Recently remorselessly conceded Global Warming is upon us.

Luntz: "It's now 2006. I think most people would conclude that there is global warming taking place and that the behavior of humans are (sic) affecting the climate." BBC: "But the administration has continued taking your advice. They're still questioning the science." Luntz: "That's up to the administration. I'm not the administration. What they want to do is their business. It has nothing to do with what I write. It has nothing to do with what I believe."

James Inhofe U.S. senator who has famously said Global Warming is "the greatest hoax ever perpetrated on the American people." Inhofe has relentlessly campaigned against taking any precautionary measures against Global Warming. He is also the recipient of over $1,000,000 in contributions from the oil and gas sector.

Michael Crichton Author of popular entertainments JURASSIC PARK and creator of the TV show E.R., Crichton became the darling of Global Warming deniers with the publication of STATE OF FEAR, a novel that refutes the existence of global warming. Senator James Inhofe was so impressed he used Crichton as an expert in senate hearings on Climate Change. Crichton famously proclaimed "Aliens Cause Global Warming," suggesting a belief in Global Warming is as hysterical as believing in aliens.

Phil Cooney An official with the President’s Council on Environmental Quality (CEQ) who had been altering documents published by the Climate Change Science Program. Cooney, who had no training in science before coming to the White House had been a climate change official with the American Petroleum Institute. After a New York Times article exposed Cooney's actions, he resigned from the White House and went on to work for Exxon Mobil.

Exxon Mobil Employing the same tactics employed by the tobacco industry for years, the most profitable oil company in the world has paid millions of dollars in a misinformation campaign to downplay the human culpability in Global Warming.

THE SKEPTICS Get to know the fine folks who deny global warming exists, think it is trivial or that it will be beneficial. Check out the good people who fund these experts, and the think tanks that broadcast their views and lobby on their behalf. Remember who they are. Your future is in their hands. Patrick Michaels, John Christy, Richard Lindzen, the list goes on (105 entries on Wikipedia). Of course there are over 2000 peer-reviewed scientists who have authored papers affirming the basic science of Global Warming, but you won't see the discrepancy between deniers and believers affect media reports on Climate Change. There is sure to be one of these deniers on every broadcast on the topic, to keep everything fair and balanced. Al Gore former vice-president and Global Warming Cassandra has emerged as a truly dedicated civil servant in his relentless push for policy change on Climate Change. His slide show on Global Warming has been made into the film and book AN INCONVENIENT TRUTH.

James Hansen heads the Nasa Institute for Space Studies, and has been a vocal critic of the Bush Administration policies on Climate Change. Sir David King "climate change is the most severe problem we are facing today - more serious even than the threat of terrorism"

Rick Piltz a coordinator for the federal climate change program who blew the whistle on Bush Aide Phil Cooney for altering climate reports. After leaving the administration in protest, Piltz started the website ClimateScienceWatch.org to counter the misinformation disseminated by the delayers and deniers. Greg Nickels has been the Mayor of Seattle, Washington since 2002. He spearheaded the US Mayors Climate Protection Agreement, an accord between over 600 US cities committed to reducing greenhouse emissions. He has won numerous awards for his leadership in battling Climate Change.

The Clinton Foundation The Clinton Climate Initiative (CCI) is working with the C40 Large Cities Climate Leadership Group, an association of large cities dedicated to tackling climate change—to develop and implement a range of actions that will accelerate greenhouse gas emissions reductions.
